Twilight Connemara Ponies Stud
The sentence
"Typical ponies that have the wide and free movements of the ponies in Ireland"
became our motto for breeding.
That Connemara-look, which touched the little girl I was in 1981, is the expression we love for a pony.
And the first pace of the pony - Coming so freely out of the elbow – showing:
"This has to be a Connemara pony!"
This is the breeding line we always want to stick to.
We have been there for 27 years and consider us as one of the foundations of the German Connemara pony breeding. So many have come and gone...
We do not buy and sell following temporary fashions. This is impossible. We love our ponys and we could never give away those we decided to keep with us.
Our taste and our love are not dependent on the taste of others.
Upbringing of the ponies
Our ponies grow up in liberty and their trust in men is maintained.
They come to meet us with open eyes, curious about life.
We are aware of our responsibility to find for each pony a person who is never going to break that trust.
Huge fields during the whole year, life in a stable, familiar herd and good pastures allow for ponies to develop a healthy interior, waiting joyfully for all the tasks men might want them to perform.
Training of horse and rider
"Why are you angry with your horse and accuse it to act against you on purpose?"
Our objective is to change the rider’s impression „It’s the horse’s fault!“
We want the rider to learn how to get to feel his horse.
We teach techniques to „learn how to feel“.
We also use this in schooling our young ponies – we look for our own deficits, not those of the pony.
We want our ponies to have a long life appropriated for them, despite using them for us.
Performance should be achieved in an easy way, without the pony loosing the joy of being ridden!
We offer riding lessons for children, teens and adults on our older ponies.
Our offer is completed by holiday activities, small competitions and the possibility to look after a specific horse.
Several days a week I am working as a mobile trainer.
We decide at an early time which of our foals we want to keep at our stud. The older ponies always stay with us.
Sometimes we do not only have non-schooled foals for sale, but also pre-trained young ponies.
We hope you will enjoy reading the following pages.
Sincerely yours,
Ulrike Grisard and daughters
